Does the assistant answer general questions?

No. It's scoped to your document and answers from its content, so it won't respond to questions unrelated to the file you've opened.

Does it work on scanned documents?

No. The assistant needs selectable text, so it can't read a scanned or image-only PDF that has no extractable text.

Can I ask about just one section?

Yes. Highlight the text you're asking about and the assistant will focus its answer on that passage.

Can I chat with a PDF on my phone?
